Directions:

By Road:

From the South:
1. Leave the M6 Motorway at Junction 36 (south of Kendal) and follow the A590 towards Barrow, via Newby Bridge until you reach the turning on your right for Greenodd.
2.At Greenodd turn right onto the A5092, signposted to Workington and Whitehaven.
3.At Grizebeck this road becomes the A595.
4.Follow the A595 through Foxfield and the Whicham Valley.
5.Turn right towards Workington and Whitehaven when you reach the T junction at the end of the Whicham Valley.
6.Follow the A595 northwards through Whitbeck to Bootle.
7.After passing the "Welcome to Bootle" sign, go past 2 or 3 houses on your right and, as you see a football field and 30 m.p.h. signs, slow down and indicate right.
8.Turn into the drive of "Millholme House" on your right, just before the sharp right hand bend. The entrance is quite narrow and is between stone walls and tall trees and can easily be missed!
9.Proceed down the driveway and pass to the left of the house. Gardener's Cottage can be found to the rear where there is ample parking.

From the North:
1.Follow the A595 from Carlisle, or the A66 from Penrith until you reach Cockermouth.
2.By-pass Cockermouth and follow the A595 via Lillyhall Industrial Estate to Whitehaven.
3.Follow the A595 southwards through Egremont, Calderbridge, Gosforth and Holmrook.
4.The road then leads you past Muncaster Castle, Waberthwaite and then into Bootle Village.
5.Continue through the village, passing on your left a church, butcher's shop and Bootle Stores/Post Office.
6.You will then see railings alongside a river on your left. As you pass a barn conversion and then another barn, slow down and indicate left.
7.The entrance to Millholme House is on your left hand side, bang on the left hand bend in the road. Turn up the drive, pass to the left of the house and Gardener's Cottage is located to the rear where there is room to park.
8.N.B. If you miss the entrance to Millholme House, turn round in the football club carpark on your left or a layby half a mile further south on the A595 and approach from the south. This option may be easier if you have a larger car as the angle of approch to the driveway is more gentle from the south!
